Bike of the month December '13
Hey Forty8 Fans,
this is my crf 450 2012 for Speed & Style. I started riding 4 strokes barely a year ago, and i'm loving it, it makes riding so much smoother, I might not be a big fan of the 4 stroke noise, but I can make a deaf ear to that for all the power and handling I get in exchange.
I use a 51 teeth renthal sprocket to get a more snappy reaction on the ramp, for short run ups which my FMF megabomb pipe helps a lot on that extra power. Also added some grip tape to the side of the frame for beeter gripping on my legs, so instead of focusing on squeezing the bike I can focus on other motions I have to do during my tricks. I have my foot hook but unlike other riders, I don't use it for no handed flips or nac flips, I use it to keep me balanced while I grab my seat on seat grab flips, since I'm a short dude I need to get my legs really extended before I can reach my grab hole, to avoid flying away from the bike I hook my foot there until I have a solid grab.
I got the tallest and deepest bend I could get from renthal bars to get my legs over the bars easily without getting my heels stuck on the other side, again being a short guy gets on the way again, but on the other hand it takes me less time to get back on the bike allowing me to hold my tricks a little bit longer that taller riders. MB1 suspensions, prepared a stiffer than SX suspension for FMX and almost as stiff suspension for speed and style, but with a more progressive reaction, for whoops and rhythm sections.
Let's ride
