Taka Takes First Dew Tour Win of FMX Career
Taka Higashino won the first Dew Tour contest of his career after consistently posting the highest scores of the night to claim the win at the Toyota Challenge FMX competition.
Running a head-to-head format where the rider with the better score advanced to the next round, the Dew Tour’s FMX contest featured some of the sport’s biggest names – including Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, Mike Mason and Adam Jones – competing in four rounds to determine the overall winner.
The semifinals featured a battle between Ronnie Faisst and Mike Mason and another pitting Twitch and Taka against one another. Mason’s lazy boy backflip and backflip heel clicker put him into the finals, while Taka got full extension on all of his tricks to knock out his competition, even treating the fans to a few extra tricks after time had expired.
In the final matchup of the night, Mason strung together a Superman flip and another backflip heel clicker for a clean, consistent run that earned him an 86.50.
However, Taka could not be denied, and the Japanese rider made a clean sweep of the night, posting an 89.00 thanks to a double grab indy, stripper flip and double grab backflip.
