Sanliurfa, 15th May 2010: Freestyle Battle at the Turkish – Syrian border – More than 6.000 spectators came to watch the 5th contest of the NIGHT of the JUMPs / FIM Freestyle MX World Championships in GAP stadium Sanliurfa. Libor Podmol won the final battle with Brice Izzo, who crashed after his Underflip. 3rd position went to Jose Miralles.
The madding crowd celebrated the Freestyle Motocross athletes already in the quaylifing like their own national heroes.11 riders out of 7 nations fiercely fought over the six places in the finals. Longest travel had Marcelo Simoes from Brasil. He arrived in Sanliurfa on Saturday morning like both Czech riders Podmol and Pilat. Tired from the travel Simoes could not reach the finals. The three Germans Hannes Ackermann, Fabian Bauersachs and Lukas Weis had solid runs, but none of them got in the next round. Also for Pilat the contest was over after the qualification even though he would have won the „trick of the day“ with his Candybar Underflip.
So Libor Podmol, Brice Izzo, Jose Miralles, Massimo Bianconcini and for the first time of the season France new wunderboy David Rinaldo and Africa’s FMX hero Alastair Sayer made it into the next round. The Whip contest went to Lukas Weis ahead of Massimo Bianconcini.
In the finals all the athletes had to set 10 tricks on the hard track. Alastair Sayer pulled a Heelclicker flip for the first time at the IFXMF. With that and his huge multiple combos he made it on 5th position. David Rinaldo, France’ new FMX weapon had a massive Superman Seatgrab Flip Indy, but due to a Deadsailor he landed on 6th place. Massimo Bianconcini had a really good run and was close to reach the podium. And this Jose Miralles jumped with his spectacular well-known trick program. But the challenge for the victory blustered between Libor Podmol and Brice Izzo. Both showed all of their hard flip combos. Finally Podmol won due to Izzo’s crash after his Underflip.
In the overall ranking of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship Libor Podmol now leads with 92 points ahead of Rob Adelberg (72 points) and Jose Miralles (70 points). The next points for the World Championship will be given today at the 2nd day of the NIGHT of the JUMPs Sanliurfa.

2nd day of the Freestyle Motocross World Championship festival in the south of Turkey. More than 6.000 spectators came to watch the FMX fight for the next FIM FMX World Championship round in GAP stadium. And they saw FMX sports on the most highly level. Libor Podmol, who had problems in the qualifying, saved his victory with a massive final run. Only three points behind a really strong Brice Izzo came on 2nd.
Turkey felt the high temperature early on in qualifying. Lukas Weis did 1-Hand and Nac Underflip, Ackermann the Switchblade Flip and Rinaldo a massive Superman Seatgrab Flip Indy. But for all them it was over after the qualifying. This day Alastair Sayer missed the final only by a few points, even though he had triple combos. Podmol had a deadsailor, but managed an extra trick in time along with an otherwise flawless run, so reached the final with 4th place qualification. Massimo Bianconcini, Fabiana Bauersachs, Petr Pilat, Jose Miralles and Brice Izzo joined him in the top 6. The Sunday Whip contest went to Lukas Weis ahead of Massimo Bianconcini and Alastair Sayer.
In the finals all the athletes pulled out even more spectacular tricks. Petr Pilat had insane backflip combos. He was really close to reach his first NIGHT of the JUMPs podium. Bauersachs and Bianconcini had really good final runs. They landed on 5th and 6th place. After his qualifying Podmol had to start on 4th position in the final. But the Czech rider pulled all of his hard tricks and came on 307 points. This was to much for Jose Miralles who ended up on 3rd place. But Brice Izzo ruled with extreme airtime, hard flip combos and the Tsunami Flip Indy in the Double-up. Finally only 3 points were missing for Izzos first IFMXF victory. So Podmol won also the 2nd day of the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Sanliurfa.
In the overall ranking of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship Libor Podmol still has the lead with 112 points ahead of Brice Izzo and Jose Miralles (both have 86 points). Now the IFMXF gets into the summer break and returns with the NIGHT of the JUMPs on October 09th in Cologne/Germany.
