He is one of the best FMX riders in the world and 2006 he made an awesome season winning the Red Bull X Fighters in Mexico and bringing home 2 silver medals from the Winter- and summer X Games to his native country Switzerland. And he also won the IFMXF FIM World Championship.
First of all, tell the guys out there some basics about you - where do you come from, how old are you and what is your mission? My place is in Payerne/Switzerland. I am 24 years old and I just want to ride.
When and how did you start riding dirtbikes? I got my first bike in the age of four. The motorbiking is a family sport with tradition. My grand father and my father were also riding.

You were a very successful MX racer. What was your best MX result?
My best result was a 3rd place in the European championship 80cc.
Why did you decide to specialize for FMX?
I like the jumps and the lifestyle of the FMX sport.
You have won two X Games silver medals, finished 1st at the X Fighters in Mexico and 3rd in Madrid and you also won the IFMXF FIM World Championship. Tell us something about your experience and how do you feel after such a successful season? 2006 was a perfect year for me. But I took a lot of risks and it ended up badly with a broken femur.
You broke your femur last year at the IFMXF Contest in Cologne – what happened? I did a superman flip and the bike over rotated a bit. When you are doing a superman flip, you cannot do anything ... and I crashed hard. |
|
Are you ready to ride now or do you still have any problems with your femur? I will start my riding comeback these days.
Tell us something about your own FMX compound. How many ramps and stuff to play do you have and what kind of setup? I have 2 places. 1st location with a foam pit and 3 ramps. 2nd location a dirt place with 2 landings, 2 ramps and 3 dirt jumps, 1 wall ride and a 1 fun box.

Do you think, that the people hype the Backflip to much and the judges are score them to overpriced? I don’t care. Before the backflip was invented almost the same riders were on top like now. I think it is stupid to put rules. Sometimes the judges say "No more than 4 backflips in one run" and this is not freestyle anymore – it’s ruled style. The riders should do what they want and what they are in the mood for.
Keep on smilin' | Silver medal at the Winter X-Games 2006 in Aspen
How do you prepare yourself during the wintertime? Usually I go out of Switzerland during the wintertime, because it’s too cold and snowy to train FMX. But this year I just wait until I am fit to ride again. I did relax and made some party at home with my friends.
Do you also go skiing or snowboarding in the alps, which are really close to your place? I’m a big snowboard fan and when I have time I go ride in the swiss alps.
What are your plans for the future? Practice a lot to reach my highest level.

You are living in Payerne/Switzerland. Tell the people out there, what they should see, if they visit your place? My skate shop in Payerne which is called „MY WAY“ and the castle of Payerne.
What are you doing beside FMX in your freetime? I stay with my girlfriend Sarah and I shape my FMX spot.
Do also ride Minibikes, Snowscoot or BMX? Minibike, Snowboard and wakeskating.
