Almost every dirtbike fan knows Travis „the wunderkind“ Pastrana. After winning two more gold medals in MotoX Freestyle and Speed & Style at the X-Games 16 we talked with Travis about former times, Rally Racing, the TP Roll vs. Double Backflip and of course his plans for the future...


For those who not, tell the guys out there some basics about you – where do you come from, how old are you and what is your mission? I come from Annapolis Maryland. 26 years old. My mission is to have fun with what i am doing.

The most riders have a cool story how they started with MX. Do you also have one? How and when did you start riding MX bikes and what affected you to do FMX? I started racing when i was three years old and was hooked. I got into FMX becuase of the fun that surronds the sport.

Looking back the past 10 years, you are definitely one of the innovators of FMX. What was your greatest highlight the past years? There are so many hilights and so many good times i have doing FMX. I really enjoy being creative when it comes to FMX and that is what i enjoy most.

After that year the Backflip Combo Battles started. It was getting more dangerous year by year. What do you think about the progression of the FMX sport the last 10 years? The progression of FMX just keeps getting higher. I thinks its awesome to see riders come up with new tricks, it pushes everyone in the sport.

A few years ago you quit riding the big FMX Contests. What was the reason? To consentrate on Rally racing.

Now you are back winning two gold medals at X-Games 16 in Freestyle and Speed and Style. What was your motivation or reason to make a motoX comeback? I love dirt bikes... i never stoped ridding it is my first passion.

Your plan was also to attend at the X-Games Best Trick doing a 360° Flip or a kind of 720°. What happened? Well i never really had the chance to get the trick prefect in the foam pit so i decided to pull from the event unil i can get the TP roll to perfection.

Are you still continuing to work on this trick – and maybe you will try it next year? Well right now i am not sure of next year, you just have to wait and see.

You are the inventor of the Double Flip and you pulled it at X-Games 2006 winning gold in Best Trick. Afterwards you said, you will never do this trick ... but you did it at Nitro Circus a and X-Games ... why? It something i did ust because it look like fun, so i did it.

What are you doing in your freetime beside 2-wheelers?
Training for Rally racing and Big Buck Hunter.

You are also a successful Rally Racer. What are your plans regarding Rallys the next years? I will be racing Rally for sure next year.

You were doing so many surprising things the last months. Would it be possible to see you also riding an AMA Supercross event in the future? Oh man i love racing Supercross, maybe i just have to wait and see if ist in the plans.

What are your plans for the upcoming months. What kind of FMX shows, series and contests you are interested to ride in? Right now ist all about Big Buck hunter and Rally.

What kind of music do you like – your top 10 tracks on your ipod? Willie Nelson, Slayer, and anything a good old country boy will listen to.

Your last words – do you want to say something to your fans, friends etc? If your not having Stopp what you are doing and find something you love and do it with passion.
